Learn More About Indirect Fired Heaters

In our last article, we discussed the benefit of using indirect heaters in construction and other jobs. This time we’ll take a step back, discuss how indirect fired heaters work, and tell you about another great brand.

The Difference Between Direct and Indirect-Fired Heaters

Unlike a direct fired heater, which heats industrial and commercial areas using gas fired directly into the burner, indirect fired heaters do not have an open flame. In an indirect fired heater, air is heated by passing over a heat exchanger. This allows the combustion by-products to stay within the heat exchanger until exhausted through a flue.

Why does this matter? When you’re dealing with a direct fired heater, you need proper ventilation and a minimum of 20% fresh, outside air. Because of these requirements, and the potential for combustion by-products, there are places and situations where direct fired heater simply aren’t allowed.

With an indirect fired heater, no by-products of combustion are introduced into the workspace. So, they’re the preferred choice in closed, indoor spaces. There’s less risk and greater reheating ability with these types of industrial heaters.

More Information About Indirect Fired Industrial Heaters

An indirect-fired heater is a common choice for climate control on construction sites, outdoor events, and other spaces requiring temporary heat or decontamination. The heater can be installed for temporary use indoors or outdoors. If installed indoors the flue must be vented to the outdoors by an HVAC professional. Again, with indirect fired heaters, there is no exposed flame or fumes to be concerned about. You can be assured that fresh, clean air will be delivered into the structure without the fear and concern of flames shooting out of the front of the heater. To further ensure safety, all heaters have an optional an on/off thermostat, which means you do not have to manually adjust the gas flow to control the temperature.

Our professional team has made all things related to heat treatment and airflow our expertise, and we are proud to provide a wide variety of portable heaters.
